Benefit from the New iPhone

Apple’s new offering, the iPhone 4S is all set to release soon. It was originally expected to be called iPhone 5, but will be launched as iPhone 4S, an upgrade of the iPhone 4 instead. However, this is still going to be beneficial for those who prefer mobile recycling. A large number of people will queue up to buy the new iPhone as it features increased operational speed (because of the dual-core processor) and an 8 megapixel camera. If you are one of them, please know that you can gain tremendously from your old iPhone too. You can sell it for handsome cash to a company who will resell it after refurbishing it.

There are many consumers all over the world who would love to own an iPhone, even if it is an obsolete version. It is for this very reason that recycling companies are making a lot of money. With the assistance of cashformobile.com, you can turn in your old iPhone to earn a decent cash amount. That cash amount can in turn be used to buy the new iPhone 4S. With regard to your old iPhone, there are people who would love to use it after it has been reformatted and equipped with a new SIM card.

There is a healthy demand for iPhones in the recycling market and other types of recycled phones do not fetch much in comparison to the iPhone. There are millions of people who are waiting eagerly to lay their hands on a decent second hand iPhone. What more, the process adopted by these recycling companies is also quite simple.

Contemplating Mobile Phone Recycling? Go for Nokia N9

For those contemplating mobile phone recycling, Nokia N9 is the way to go.

Nokia recently launched a new phone model called N9. The Finland based company is riding high on its exceptionally high quality and designs. Nokia’s Vice President even stated that N9 sets a new standard in terms of design and innovation.

Its launch was announced in the month of June in 2011. It was done mainly to obtain feedback from smartphone users and better understand their likes and dislikes. The process was a success and many people felt that the phone is easy to operate and is user friendly. It has something called the ‘Nokia Car Mode’ which helps in focussing better while driving.

Although N9 is not the only smartphone that has been launched in 2011, it certainly is worth upgrading to. If you plan to buy this new model, it will be good to have your old phone recycled. By opting to recycle your old mobile, you can earn some handy cash that can be used towards the purchase of new phone.

When you recycle your old phone, its cost will depend on its marketability. Therefore if you turn in a relatively newer model, you will have the best chance to earn a better fee. Older models without the 3G technology probably won’t earn that much, especially considering the fact that now 4G is becoming the norm of the day.

New Sony Ericsson Xperia Ray

This review of the new Sony Ericsson Xperia Ray will discuss the uses, features as well as the look of the phone.

If you are wondering how easy it is to trade-in your phone, well, it is not.  You will definitely not like to compromise on your needs and would want one which best fits your requirements.  The small sum of money that you will get after exercising the trade-in option can be used in purchasing a new mobile phone as the old phone goes for recycling.

If simple and great looks is what you swear by, then Sony Ericsson Xperia Ray has it all.  An onscreen keyboard with a touch screen which is extremely simple to use.  More features such as a music player and a camera, all offer a unique user experience.

A 1GHz processor ensures that the speed of the mobile phone is high.  Unfortunately, the battery life of Xperia Ray is lesser than regular non-SmartPhones.  It absolutely does not matter which SmartPhone one has but its battery will mostly always need to be recharged in the evening.  This does not mean that the battery drains out very quickly; battery life of more than eight hours is made possible with this phone.  Due to the fact that it runs more number of applications and even uses a higher processor compared to the regular mobile phones, the battery only gets used quicker.

Though the battery life and the keyboard could get better, the appearance is definitely an added advantage of the Sony Ericsson Xperia Ray.  I find the screen and the keyboard slightly cramped but it is still worth considering.

Recycling of Mobile Phones Important to Get Rid of Noxious Substances

Mobile phones consist of noxious substances that can prove to be very harmful for the environment – reason why it is important to sell them off to a reliable buyer.
Recycling or trading your old mobile can help you save the environment. There are poisonous elements like cadmium batteries in mobile phones which can lead to toxic contamination especially if the phone is kept near a water source. Beryllium and brominated flame-retardants can be highly poisonous for the environment as well. Hence, disposal of electronic items such as computers, mobile phones etc. in a proper manner are highly critical for the environment.
Recycling of old mobile phones has been made so easy nowadays that no one can offer an excuse for not disposing their mobiles properly. Incentives like cash for mobile trade-in are available wherein you are paid some extra money for your pocket by accepting to recycle your phone.
There is a different process of mobile phone recycling adopted by every company. While many phones are simply refurbished and supplied to markets in Africa, South America, Far and Middle East, many companies simply dispatch the phones to a recycling centre wherein these mobiles are melted and given the shape of other products. Mobiles of high value often fetch more money when they are sold to a professional company.
Purchasing recycled mobile phones can potentially save you money if you are thinking of upgrading to a new phone. There is a high possibility that you might find an appropriate recycled older model of the latest SmartPhone model you always wanted to buy.

IFA – the launch pad for Samsung Tablet Mobile Hybrid ‘Galaxy Note’

Recently held in Berlin on September 1st, IFA witnessed the launch of Galaxy Note, a hybrid of a mobile and a tablet.

As per Samsung, the gadget is larger than a normal smartphone and smaller than a conventional tablet, requiring development of an altogether new technology category.

Samsung’s global sales and marketing head and executive vice president, DJ Lee stated that the main reason behind creation of Galaxy Note was to target a large section of users who often carry small notebooks for jotting down ideas. For this purpose, the gadget also features a stowaway stylus for screen captures, drawing and note taking.

Samsung’s Galaxy Note is an Android device that runs on Gingerbread (2.3). It features a 1280 x 800 Super AMOLED 5.3 inch touch screen. Other features of the tablet are HSPA+, LTE, removable 2500mAh battery, 8MP and 2MP dual cameras, 1.4 GHz processor. The hybrid is very light and thin as well – at 178gms and 9.65mm.

The Android operating system comes equipped with TouchWiz. The seven home screens on the tablet are built to optimise the use of stylus that is popularly known as the ‘S Pen’. Some of the programmes included in the gadget are a to-do list app, a native calendar and the S Planner. Furthermore, the appointments can be easily dragged and dropped without the need of opening up an entry.

Samsung is still in the discussion stages with regard to the availability of the device. Therefore, it will be a while before we get some concrete information about that.

London Theatre to Present the Phone Hacking Scandal

Now this is something that does not happen often. As per the Guardian, a London based theatre is going to use hacked voicemail as an inspiration to stage six new plays at the Theatre503.

The venue is widely popular for its new and fresh presentations. The plays will be presented under the title ‘Hacked.’ Every play will be based on the messages obtained from the hacked phones.

Quite evidently, there is nothing illegal about all this. The six phones have been voluntarily offered by people who have agreed to allow the theatre to access their voicemails, knowing that their messages will be handed over to the six playwrights who will give it the form of a play. The volunteers have also given their consent to not force deletion or censorship of any of the messages.

Theatre503’s Associate Director, Derek Bond stated that the idea of staging short plays directly based on the hacking scandal didn’t seem great initially. He felt that a courtroom, verbatim approach is something any other theatre could have taken in the future, but not them. They wanted to show the actual reasons behind people’s outrage. It just wasn’t the celebrities who were at the receiving end; the scandal had left missing teenagers, grieving parents and many more casualties. What if you too were one of them?

The people offering their phones will be kept anonymous, even to the playwrights as all their names will be scrambled before handing over the recordings. The writers have been advised to use their imagination as much as possible and create good stories. Doesn’t seem strange? Does it?

3G Mobile Data Collection in BBC’s Crowd-Sourcing Survey

The recent crowd-sourcing survey conducted by BBC aimed at mapping out where do the leading cell phone service providers offer their worst and best data speeds.  The results of the survey have led to creation of an interaction map.

Process of Data Collection

An application was downloaded on more than 44,000 mobile phones to facilitate this survey and the signals were monitored continuously over the entire month.  Once the gathered data was compiled, a map was generated which allowed people to check the quality of reception in specific areas by postcodes.

The Interactive Map

Using the BBC website, this map can be connected.  The information that this map provides is the same that was collected by the respondents who participated and chose to download the application.

The information, in essence, provides an overview of the experience that the participants went through in various postcodes using the services of one of the major cell phone companies in the UK over the last month during data collection.  BBC had not divided the participation on any demographic factor or by service providers.

Due to the way by which all the information was gathered and hence interpreted, aspects like low or no signals while entering a building were not considered and hence, are not reflecting in the results.  The results only indicate an average reception quality in each of the defined areas.

One must note that this map does not replace the coverage map of any service provider, but only provides relevant information in helping people select which service provider they can go with.

Windows Phone 7.5(Mango) Will Support Micro HDMI

As felt by many, the missing HDMI support was one of the major disappointments in the Windows Phone 7 release. Although the platform had the perfect ability to video record with minimum requirements, it did not have the ability to share the video content with nearby HDTV devices. However, it is all about to change with Acer M310.

The soon to be launched device will have both the latest Windows Phone OS, as well as the micro HDMI output support (a feature commonly available on almost all Android handsets). Going by the reports, the micro HDMI port will also be there (besides DLNA wireless sharing) in the upcoming HTC Eternity (another Windows Phone device).

As per a Windows Phone NZ blog, a prototype of Acer M310 was exhibited at the recently held Tech Ed conference. The blog stated that the new phone appeared to be a reasonably good handset having a black shiny appearance and bevelled edges. The handset has something that has never been witnessed on Windows Phone handsets before – video output ability to HDMI. The DLNA support is another addition that will enable users to play over Wi-Fi through an Xbox, TV or any other DLNA devices connected to the network. Other features are all the ones commonly available on various Windows Phone 7 handsets – such as the storage capacity of 8GB.

The blog further informs that the Acer M310 is nearing the conclusion of its production stage. This means that we all will soon get to know its official release dates as well as the release locations. Talking about the other Windows Phone 7.5 devices, although they will have the compatibility, it will be the handset manufacturers’ decision to provide the output or not.

New BlackBerry Curves this September

The much awaited operating system, BlackBerry 7 is now featured in the three new mobiles announced by the makers of BlackBerry phones, Research in Motion.

A press conference was held in London on Tuesday morning, where this announcement was made. The three new mobiles launched are the BlackBerry Curve 9370, BlackBerry Curve 9350 and the BlackBerry Curve 9360.

Despite facing struggles in competing with Google Android phones and Apple iPhone, there is still demand in the market for the BlacBerry Curves. In fact, now, even the existing users have the liberty to upgrade their Curves to the new improved models. A 5-megapixel camera, equipped with video recording as well as flash, a 32GB expandable memory, NFC (near field communication) capability and an integrated suite of applications which is preloaded, are all features of the new Curve.

Facebook Chat included in the new Facebook version and an upgradation in the version of the BlackBerry Messenger, are some of the Social networking features of the new Curves.

The BlackBerry 7 operating system is fastest operating system by RIM to date. There is in fact a considerable 40% speed improvement in the Blackberry 7 operating system as compared to the earlier BlackBerry 6 OS.

This month, the launch of these new handsets will take place in Canada, after which they will e available in other global markets from September. The Curve 9360 has already found its place in UK mobile phone services provider Vodafone’s array of smartphones. The phone prices and the tariffs however, have not been declared yet.

While talking about these new BlackBerry Curves, Mike Lazaridis, co-CEO and President of RIM said that these new phones would provide the existing and new Curve users with a remarkable experience that would have an upgradation in performance and also a mobile social experience that would be phenomenal.

Cellular Convergence: Threat to Privacy and Speech

The press has recently highlighted a few incidents wherein mobile phones were used to relay information regarding riots or protests.  One of them happened in our own city of London and elsewhere and the other was related to actions by Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART), the US transit system.

In the incident related to BART, the transit company was forced to disrupt the mobile phone services in order to hamper the communication amongst potential protestors.  They claim that potential danger was evident and this step was taken to avoid any mishap and protect the passengers.  While many have approved of this action, others have not.  The opinions were similar when British agencies and authorities tried to disrupt mobile phone services and social media during the unrest and the recent riots.

Talking of mobile phone services being disrupted, the question that pops up in our mind is – should mobile communication be considered as a privilege or a right?  Cornell University’s professor Steve Wicker stated that it is a right as mobile phones are increasingly substituting print as well as fax in this “revolutionary toolkit”.  Hence, pulling the plug on cell phone services for hampering communication is definitely wrong.

Mr. Wicker has aptly discussed this topic in his new book “Cellular Convergence and the Threat to Speech and Privacy”, being published by the Oxford University Press.

He further adds that mobile phones are becoming more prominent platforms for speech in various contexts and forms.  Since this speech platform depends much on networking infrastructure, being controlled by a number of service providers, it results in issues on freedom of speech.
