Claiming back your lost mobile phone to get it recycled.
A large number of people lose their expensive electronic gadgets every year. They either forget their laptop or mobile phone in the taxi or at the bar. A recent study has discovered that Northeners, specifically the Northeners in Scotland have a tendency to lose their phone after a night out. The study was carried out by the O2. The study also revealed that nearly half of the surveyed 2000 people, never found their lost items. Rather than looking for the lost goods, these people chose to claim insurance instead.
Many lost items are forgotten in places such as shops, trains, taxis, bars and even in parks. Mobile phones constitute the most number of such lost items. Having lost an electronic gadget or a mobile phone can be considered equivalent to losing money, as these phones can be easily reclaimed and recycled for cash. If such electronic items remain unclaimed for a period of at least one year, the companies are entitled to submit them to recycling centres. Many companies do so and donate the proceeds to help young people.
If you are one of the people who have lost their mobile phone recently, it may be a good idea to search it, so that you can at least obtain its recycle value. After all you have spent hard earned cash on that phone, so you must benefit from the option of mobile phone recycling. Else, you can remain contended about the recycling money donated for the benefit of UK’s youth.

Before you send your mobile phone for recycling, you must remember to wipe off all the personal data from it.
Since mobile phones carry enough data, right from addresses and mobile phone numbers for family and friends, along with leaving notes in the phone, text messages and email records, it is only prudent to understand its implications before recycling the phone. The sad truth is that many UK citizens leave out removing personal data from their cell phones before recycling them through online companies. These phones could be used as means for scams, if they end up in wrong hands. Your family and friends from the contact list could get calls from strangers, pretending to be you, and gathering critical information. Confidential details related to your bank account and credit card could also be compromised with, depending on what all information is stored in your phone.
Currently, a warning related to mobile phone recycling is out for all individuals. All UK citizens have been told to remove their data from cell phones before turning them over. If people are not aware of how to get it done, then the mobile phone provider could help them with it, while they keep a watch on their phone and data. One must go further than only deleting the data, though it is a very simple process. Not only must the data be removed from the SIM card, but the removable SIM cards must be taken out before the cell phones are sent for recycling. Such removable SIM cards must be destroyed before the data is stolen and misused.

Too many companies are using cell phone recycling as their green message.
As Tom Dowdall, an international campaigner from Greenpeace, puts it, there are various benefits associated with mobile phone recycling. Companies have adopted cell phone recycling as the primary reason for advertising. They are even trying to generate more interest from people towards electronic equipment recycling, which has seen huge economical and commercial benefit as far as these companies are concerned.
It undoubtedly is an excellent way to build corporate brand the moment companies make statements about accepting cell phones for recycling. Well, they could also be doing the recycling of phones through other companies like the cell phone provider, but what matters at the end is the message being sent out. Consumers are being shown easier ways of recycling so they can choose and opt. Eventually, the individual will gain by getting some extra money and the business gains by earning more brand recognition.
Mobile phone recycling must be used by engaging a company that one can trust. The consumer not only benefits by earning a sizeable amount of money for the recyclable phones which can be reused, but also feels secure that it is a company which will definitely pay out.
Online scams are scary since they accept mobile phones for recycling, but do so only to gain one’s personal information from the phone. So it is very essential for one to understand how the process of cell phone recycling works apart from the companies which truly reward for recycling.

Are you a Nokia phone user? Well, great news for you! You will now be able to recycle your Nokia phone and even help in saving a turtle.
Nokia recently made an announcement that after the mobile phones are recycled, all donations from such recycling will go towards a sea turtle. To give you more information, sea turtles are a precious endangered species which are often found in shallow waters. Due to perils like boats hitting them and getting caught in nets, their life is extremely threatened. Even though they have a very long life span and lay hundreds of eggs, not many eggs survive long enough to reach the ocean. It has been decided by Nokia that it will allow cell phone recyclers to now adopt Hawksbill turtle. This promotion is in full swing in countries in the Middle East such as Oman, UAE and Qatar.
If you are in the UK and keen to adopt a seat turtle, then speaking to someone in Nokia may help. Lasting for only a month, this campaign is aimed at gathering charity funds for Marine Turtle Conservation Project. Even if you cannot make use of this programme in the UAE known as Nokia Care Centre and saving a turtle by recycling your cell phone, it is still possible for you to send proceeds from mobile phone recycling either directly to this project or to World Wildlife Fund.
There are ways more than one to donate from your cell phone recycling proceeds towards causes such as saving turtles or other animals.

I know of a lot of people who want to own a new smartphone.
It is essentially with an aim to purchase a smartphone that most people these days are opting for mobile phone recycling. Their old flip-phones are being turned in more often for better phones, if the recent survey on recycling of mobile phones by the NPD Group is to be believed. The year 2011 and in particular, the third quarter saw around 59% of the market turning in their used mobile phones so they could afford better ones. As compared to the last year’s statistics, the number of people recycling in 2011 has gone up by 13%. This could either be due to lower prices of smartphones or increased awareness on recycling old cell phones.
Since smartphones are now getting more affordable, individuals are looking for various ways to purchase less expensive phones. Recycling of old cell phones is a great opportunity to earn some cash and utilize towards buying a new phone, be it a smartphone or something else.
Another reason attracting people towards smartphones is its various applications and software among other options. Such technology is making smartphones even more attractive.
With the increasing popularity of new phones, it is very likely that recycling of mobile phones will gain momentum too. With 4G as the new technology coming up soon and offering increased speed, I am confident that people will turn in their 3G smartphones for recycling.

When one talks about new models, technology is indeed a fickle industry.
Now you will wonder why I said so. Well, on one particular day, a new application will be on the top charts seeming so high in demand, while the very next day, you will find it getting replaced with another new application. Cell phones too fall in this category of technology and change more quickly than you think, while most of us are still using our old cell phones. If you need to dispose of your old cell phones, you must do it carefully keeping in mind the presence of toxins in phone batteries and even some precious metals in the phones, such as lithium, nickel and lead.
The possible thing to do is to recycle mobile phones using vendors which offer a great price for old models. The amount that one receives will depend mainly on the cell phone one has. It will also depend on the company as well as the number of handsets the vendor has of that specific phone. The companies basically look at the potential for resale of recycled phones. The amount received for recycling the old cell phone will be much smaller if the possibility of resale of the phone is low.
For a phone to be considered as recyclable, it must have the components including the battery and be in a working condition. Components such as hands-free are not a very important part and can be retained. There is another opportunity to sell the handset accessories separately and earn some more money. If a particular phone model is a lot in demand, then recycling is definitely a lucrative option.

Most manufacturers have got into the bandwagon for cell phone recycling.
Focusing on recycling of e-waste, LG is perhaps the most recent company to have begun this promotion for getting more consumers on what they may need to do for protecting the earth from the damages caused by unethical disposal of old cell phones. LG has also launched a campaign called ecoMobilisation in the US. As a part of the promotion’s second phase, there will be six acts. Along with House of Blues Entertainment, some concerts have already been conducted offering a showcase. This concept primarily encourages the people to come and see the concerts, which began in May, and then use their cell phones as a part of this experience.
The promotion’s second part emphasizes on the US citizens to realize that there does exist the concept of mobile phone recycling and that it essentially is a green concept. For the UK citizens, cell phone recycling could even reward them with some extra cash. This specific ‘green’ promotion is just one that is being run in the US and something similar may be organised in the UK to benefit the citizens who opt in for mobile phone recycling.
A small reward is definitely assured for turning one’s phones for recycling, more so if they can be sold again and reused. There is no need to deal with any phone manufacturer if you wish to recycle your old phone. There are numerous options available when one is looking for an ethical company for recycling.
Note: Read the Mobile Recycling Round Up for further information on the best ways to recycle your mobile phone.

Mobile phone recycling is more popular in UK and Ireland, than in the USA.
Whether it is the launch of a new iPhone or any other model of SmartPhone, Ireland and UK are usually more geared up for mobile recycling in comparison to the USA. It is estimated that the launch of new iPhone 4S will result in e-waste of around 200 million pounds in the next couple of years. Going by a study carried out recently, Ireland scores ahead of even UK if we talk about mobile recycling.
The amount of waste resulting from inappropriate disposal of old mobile phones has encouraged a large number of charities and companies to get into action. Cashformobile.com is just another type of website trying to make more and more people aware about mobile phone recycling.
Old mobile phones are normally donated to charities that benefit the most by getting the old phones recycled. Anyone in possession of old mobiles can now start making handy cash by turning them in for recycling. This method works particularly well for people who wish to upgrade their phones but run marginally short of the cash required to make the purchase. With a large number of mobile phones getting launched every year, it is only obvious that e-waste is going to increase. The trick is spreading awareness about mobile phone recycling and encouraging people to opt for it. Giving away old phones to charity is certainly good, but why not make some handy cash out of them?

Do not think of buying new cell phones without giving a second thought to recycling your old cell phone, otherwise it is indeed a very poor approach.
You will come across many individuals all over the world who are the first ones to adopt the latest product as soon as it hits the market. I wouldn’t call that wrong, as long as they do not forget to recycle their old mobile phones. Recycling mobile phones undoubtedly is a growing industry for plenty of reasons. Not only does it help in protecting the environment and making customers aware of all the harmful toxins in old cell phones, but also helps in fetching money for both the company as well as the customer
For the mobile service providers and the phone manufacturers, recycling of old phones which are capable of being refurbished and resold is an excellent industry. They can earn money again for the very same phone. Even the customer gets a benefit and earns little extra money by turning in their old mobile phone. An added advantage is that they are helping in keeping harmful products from getting released into the environment.
In mobile phones, one can find some “rare earth elements” such as indium, which is used in making the LCD screens for smartphones and even touch screens. Platinum, palladium and gold too are used in mobile phones. Such elements are resold after the extraction process of recycling the old mobile is complete, especially to the Japanese and Chinese suppliers and traders.

Lot of speculation has been doing the rounds on whether the new Apple iPhone 5 is for real or not. In the UK, some sites tell us that there is an iPhone 5, but others are calling for a 4S version of the Apple iPhone. The best thing to do is to not rely on these releases but instead opt for recycling your old mobile phone if you wish to trade in for a new smartphone, whether Apple or not.
A survey by Nokia recently revealed that 9% of homeowners do believe in recycling their mobile phones.
91% of the homeowners in the UK miss out on cash, especially if you purchased a new mobile phone recently and are yet to send it for recycling. This is due to the fact that many companies now offer cash for old cell phones which are submitted for recycling. Precious metals like gold, palladium, platinum and copper could be contained in old mobile phones, as revealed by the European Environment Commissioner. All of these resources are needed by the European countries. A tonne of cell phone handsets could get you 280 grams of gold, around 140 grams of platinum and palladium and even 140 pounds of copper.
Resources such as gold, copper, platinum and palladium certainly help in preserving the environment and recycling will even allow one to help many other countries by providing the necessary resources to them. Not just that, you are also helping in keeping toxins away by recycling your old phone.
