Is Microsoft Releasing Windows Phone 7.5?
A rumour has been doing the rounds lately that Microsoft may be releasing its next iteration of Windows Phone 7 operating system early.
The new version (7.5) has been code named as “Mango” and the date for its early release is 1st September 2011 which GoMo News is tracing back to Pocket Lint. The release date, in that case, is just round the corner.
Looks like this date has been finalized keeping in mind the upcoming IFA show in Berlin. The event IFA showcases electronics including mobile phones and various other gadgets. IFA’s kick-off date is scheduled as September 2nd.
All these incidents also tie in nicely with the fact that Nokia too may be launching its very first Windows Mobile Phone 7. Such speculation and rumours are backed by IFA attendance list that includes LG, HTC and Acer in addition to Microsoft and Nokia. All these have an interest in promotion of the new operating system.
If this rumour is true, two things work against it: one being about the announcement that Microsoft’s Steve Ballmer has made. Though it is a personal statement and not made to the industry as yet, the release date most likely will be mid-October and Microsoft is not among those who generally come out early. Nokia World 2011 is another upcoming event which is lined up on 26th & 27th October and to a few, this looks like a more apt place for the launch of new Nokia WP7 as compared to Berlin.
