E-waste is no longer an issue faced by a handful of countries, but is increasingly becoming global with the advent of millions of electronics, including mobile phones. We must reduce the electronic waste, but looks like it will not happen so easily considering how often we are going on changing our mobile phones. In fact, with the ever increasing population and high number of people owning cell phones nowadays, one will need to deal with even more quantum of electronic waste.

There are organizations out there that are working towards lessening such waste and recovering the precious and rare electronic components which get discarded each year.

Mobile phones contain various important metals which are becoming more scarce by the day. If you engage in mobile phone recycling, you can avoid these products ending up in landfills and save our planet earth from such toxins. You will also contribute towards helping other organizations who have to look through trash to ensure that cell phones go for recycling instead of getting dumped in landfills.

I cannot believe that we are allowing the landfill issue to become so big, especially when cell phone recycling is so easy to follow. You just need to go online, type in which mobile phone you have and you will be able to see the price you will get after turning the old device to the recycling centre. Leave the rest of the dealings to the recycling company and do not worry, since they will do what is in the best interests of you and the environment.

Do you wish to recycle your old mobile phone safely? Then smashing it to bits is not the solution. You only need to be sure about selecting the right recycling centre. If you choose a trustworthy centre, you leave all your worries behind about thieves stealing important data. Instead, you only need to remove the SIM card from your old phone or iPad or remove the laptop’s hard drive. Any saved files or important data must be wiped out completely from your computer or mobile phone before it is ready to recycle. If you wish to get more value out of your electronics getting recycled, then they should be in a working condition. However from the point of view of data safety, a non-working device is a safer option for recycling.

All working electronics that are meant for resale after being recycled need to undergo a process of extensive refurbishment. This process involves removing any storage components from the electronic devices including mobile phones and sets the phone back to its original factory settings. All passwords and stored data also get erased during the process. You can also delete everything and make it safe by restoring the default factory settings before turning in for recycling. These days, SIM cards contain a lot of data and hence can easily be removed from the new generation mobile phones, unlike the older phones which are SIM-free and require lot of care in order to remove all important data.

If you believe that a new mobile phone is entering the market almost every single day, then you are quite close, seeing the wide number of manufacturers currently in the market. So if you have a mobile phone which is more than one or two years old, you may be keen on trading it for something newer. It surely calls for some preparation in case you are interested in getting a good deal through cell phone recycling. You must start out early and be on an active look out of new cell phones entering the market so you can accordingly plan to recycle any of your old mobile phones.

If you are considering recycling your old SIM-less phones, then you will hardly get any money from the cell phone recycling centre since they cannot resell such phones. Cell phone recycling companies resell only those phones can be made data-free and can have a new SIM inserted. However, such donations do fetch a few pounds as the precious metals are important and can be removed from the old handsets, but the amount will not be as high as for a phone with SIM included.

Data protection is of vital importance and one must ensure that the old SIM is removed and the data is completely erased so that the phone becomes absolutely new for any storage needs of the new user. You definitely do not want the recycler to simply dump your phone if there lies any data.

Did you learn about the recent study that was conducted to identify which are the mobile phones that are most commonly getting recycled? The results of the study were interesting. The Apple iPhones, especially the 3GS as well as the 4 versions, ranked at the top and are the two most commonly recycled mobile phones.

If you are keen to know their recycled values, well, the 3GS could get you £104 and an iPhone 4 could earn you a handsome £243. Though the Blackberry Curve will only get you some £52, it is ranked next on this list of most commonly recycled cell phones.

You must also know that these monetary figures are only average amounts of the most popular recycling centres. These figures also account for the condition of the phone, which means a mobile phone in good condition could fetch you even more than the average amount, while a handset that no longer works could merely get you a few pounds. The recycle fee for the Apple 3G, which was also on the same list of most recycled phones, is around £60 on an average.

So which were other mobile phones on the list of most commonly recycled? There was Blackberry Curve 8900, Touch, Bold, HTC Desire, HTC Wildfire and Samsung Galaxy, to name a few. The recycle fee for most of these phones ranges around £50, while some recycling centres may even offer £100 as a reward for recycling. You not only have the option of recycling your own phone, you can even buy a recycled phone, hence, knowing about the competition helps!

Have you ever noticed people looking through recycle bins to get mobile phones? This is happening in many places including Chennai, where the recycled or discarded rubbish is exported to China. The sole purpose with which these individuals work is to ensure that no valuables such as old phones and other electronics are lost in recycle bins. You will also be pleasantly surprised that goods are recycled each year in abundance, especially after having gone through the process of refurbishment.

Rather than sending our electronic goods, including mobile phones, for recycling to another country, we can manage excess waste and resolve the issue in our own country. We must also ensure that we do not overlook an important fact of mobile phone recycling fetching some funds to the owner. Chances are high that one could earn anywhere between ten and 200 pounds for any old cell phone, depending upon its condition and the model of the phone. And only when you wish to recycle you will get to know the real worth of the old device.

In case your phone is not fetching you much during recycling, it still is a good idea and work towards a greener planet by engaging in recycling. The more these landfills are filled up with trash every year, the more harm we are doing to our earth and causing more global warming. You can also act greener by recycling electronics through proper recycling centres which offer some cash as a reward for recycling.

Old electronic gadgets and mobile phones can still be of great use despite being of no use to you. Instead of allowing your old mobile phone to gather dust in some small corner, drawer or cabinet of your home, let it get utilised and work for you. With the help of mobile phone recycling, you can make sure that your old mobile phone earns you some handy cash. The amount you can earn from the old mobile phone depends on couple of important factors. The first one is whether the phone has resale ability in its present condition or needs certain degree of refurbishment. The other factor is whether the old phone will be sent to a recycling plant instead where it will be broken down for its parts. Despite its non-working condition, an old mobile phone can still prove to be valuable in the recycling process owing to the nickel, palladium and gold content in it. All these rare elements can be melted down into their original form and utilised all over again.
You will also come across many places where you can get up to £75-£115 for your old mobile phone, if turned in for mobile phone recycling. Normally, the smart phones which are in working condition and in good shape fetch the best prices. Any phone which can be immediately resold in the marketplace, right after dumping its data and putting in a new SIM card, will often get a higher price. You will still earn some amount on your old phone even if it is not working. Therefore, opt for mobile phone recycling and earn some easy cash now.

It’s amazing to note the quantity of precious metals such as nickel, palladium, silver and gold, which are used in the manufacturing of present-day technological gadgets. Mobile phones consist of some of the rare elements found on Earth. The depleting supply of these important elements has resulted in countries like Japan rapidly running out of resources required for the production of new phones.

A recently carried out survey by the government indicated that around 1500 kg of gold is contained in a total of 100 million mobile phones put together. This implies that if 100 million mobile phones are dumped in the landfills, we actually end up losing close to 1500 kg of valuable gold. This harm is nowhere in comparison to the kind of impact that such inappropriate disposal of mobile phones can have on our environment. Harmful sources such as lithium batteries etc. contained in the electronic gadgets can be highly detrimental for our planet.

If you combine all such factors such as the requirement for gold for creation of fresh electronic gadgets and the overall impact of dumping electronic devices into the landfills, there is no choice but to opt for mobile phone recycling.

Mobile phone recycling also provides users with the option to earn some handy cash. Manufacturing companies are more than willing nowadays to pay handsome price for mobile phones turned in for recycling. These companies send the working models to the Third World countries for their use among the needy people and the rest to recycling plants where the precious and rare metals in them are extracted for manufacturing of fresh products.

Have you seen the third generation Apple iPad which has recently hit the shelves? I am sure some of you may be holding yourself back until you receive some funds before you go and get one for yourself.

If you engage yourself in recycling, you can easily prepare yourself for the new iPad in terms of having more funds at hand to spend. Excited to know how it works? Time to consider recycling of your iPad! However there is a bit of a concern about the iPads. Its manufacturer Apple is trying its best to make it as light and thin as possible. That translates to many batteries getting dumped due to their size which will prove disastrous for the planet. This is exactly why it is important to recycle your iPads in order to take out its parts during the process of recycling and re-use them while manufacturing new electronic devices. Apple has also initiated creating green products, so you must look for its new offerings while simultaneously going green by recycling your iPads and mobile phones.

You will be amazed to see how many electronics can pass through recycling. It is more considerate to recycle old electronic devices instead of throwing them out and hurting the environment. If getting some cash for recycling is any incentive, you must also not forget that the interest of our future generations is all in our hands.

So if you wish to upgrade to the latest model of iPad, the iPad 2 is the most important product to be recycled at the moment.

In any business it will definitely affect how consumers will be looking at you. As a consumer, I for sure will be disheartened to learn that a damaged one was simply thrown away especially when a number of mobile phone recycling schemes are currently in place. Money received after recycling is obviously not on people’s mind in such cases, but what is the harm when you can only improve the situation of your business finances to some extent. The additional funds obtained can be used towards paying for a new phone or to pay just about any other business expenses.

Even if you are owning or running a business with the use of mobile phones, that is no excuse to avoid cell phone recycling. You could in fact use it to your benefit and attract consumers’ attention towards recycling by posting that all phones, as they get replaced for the employees, are sent for recycling. It will do a dual task of saving the planet and even helping in customer service.

It was found that as many as 8 million old mobile phones have are yet to be recycled in Norway. Although this study focused on Norway only, it is a cause of worry for the United Kingdom as well.

People all over the world are still indulging in dumping old phones in landfills or keeping them stored in their drawers or boxes instead of opting for mobile phone recycling. Residents of the United Kingdom account for millions of mobile phones purchased every year. Less than 5% of those old mobile phones undergo the process of mobile phone recycling.

Even though mobile phone recycling offers great benefits in the form of easy cash to the owners, there is still a long way to go to actively encourage people all over the world to opt for recycling.
