Are you a Nokia phone user? Well, great news for you! You will now be able to recycle your Nokia phone and even help in saving a turtle.

Nokia recently made an announcement that after the mobile phones are recycled, all donations from such recycling will go towards a sea turtle. To give you more information, sea turtles are a precious endangered species which are often found in shallow waters. Due to perils like boats hitting them and getting caught in nets, their life is extremely threatened. Even though they have a very long life span and lay hundreds of eggs, not many eggs survive long enough to reach the ocean. It has been decided by Nokia that it will allow cell phone recyclers to now adopt Hawksbill turtle. This promotion is in full swing in countries in the Middle East such as Oman, UAE and Qatar.

If you are in the UK and keen to adopt a seat turtle, then speaking to someone in Nokia may help. Lasting for only a month, this campaign is aimed at gathering charity funds for Marine Turtle Conservation Project. Even if you cannot make use of this programme in the UAE known as Nokia Care Centre and saving a turtle by recycling your cell phone, it is still possible for you to send proceeds from mobile phone recycling either directly to this project or to World Wildlife Fund.

There are ways more than one to donate from your cell phone recycling proceeds towards causes such as saving turtles or other animals.

Lot of speculation has been doing the rounds on whether the new Apple iPhone 5 is for real or not. In the UK, some sites tell us that there is an iPhone 5, but others are calling for a 4S version of the Apple iPhone. The best thing to do is to not rely on these releases but instead opt for recycling your old mobile phone if you wish to trade in for a new smartphone, whether Apple or not.

A survey by Nokia recently revealed that 9% of homeowners do believe in recycling their mobile phones.

91% of the homeowners in the UK miss out on cash, especially if you purchased a new mobile phone recently and are yet to send it for recycling. This is due to the fact that many companies now offer cash for old cell phones which are submitted for recycling. Precious metals like gold, palladium, platinum and copper could be contained in old mobile phones, as revealed by the European Environment Commissioner. All of these resources are needed by the European countries. A tonne of cell phone handsets could get you 280 grams of gold, around 140 grams of platinum and palladium and even 140 pounds of copper.

Resources such as gold, copper, platinum and palladium certainly help in preserving the environment and recycling will even allow one to help many other countries by providing the necessary resources to them. Not just that, you are also helping in keeping toxins away by recycling your old phone.

For those contemplating mobile phone recycling, Nokia N9 is the way to go.
Post from: Cash for Mobiles

For those contemplating mobile phone recycling, Nokia N9 is the way to go.

Nokia recently launched a new phone model called N9. The Finland based company is riding high on its exceptionally high quality and designs. Nokia’s Vice President even stated that N9 sets a new standard in terms of design and innovation.

Its launch was announced in the month of June in 2011. It was done mainly to obtain feedback from smartphone users and better understand their likes and dislikes. The process was a success and many people felt that the phone is easy to operate and is user friendly. It has something called the ‘Nokia Car Mode’ which helps in focussing better while driving.

Although N9 is not the only smartphone that has been launched in 2011, it certainly is worth upgrading to. If you plan to buy this new model, it will be good to have your old phone recycled. By opting to recycle your old mobile, you can earn some handy cash that can be used towards the purchase of new phone.

When you recycle your old phone, its cost will depend on its marketability. Therefore if you turn in a relatively newer model, you will have the best chance to earn a better fee. Older models without the 3G technology probably won’t earn that much, especially considering the fact that now 4G is becoming the norm of the day.

The first ever Windows Phone 7 OS mobile phone will soon be introduced by Nokia, as per their media statement some time back. Nokia also announced that Symbian will continue to remain in use but MeeGo may not see any further development, apart from just ‘one more phone’ which is yet to be seen.

Today, I read about Nokia N9 being that ‘one more phone’ which had reviewers expressing their feelings about it. It has so far generated mixed emotions.

The new Nokia N9 has got many good things on offer for its customers. A number of popular review sites have mentioned about its excellent MeeGo 1.2 OS version and how it provides an incredibly smooth user experience.

The mobile is powered with 1 GHz ARM Cortex-A8 OMAP 3630 processor, a 1 GB RAM and Power VR SGX530 graphics. The 3.9 inches screen with OLED display makes use of a technology called ClearBlack which creates vivid colours as well as deep blacks.

The shape didn’t seem attractive enough to me, but many reviewers have been quoted saying that it is extremely solid and even comfortable to hold.

Having only two physical buttons, it is a touch screen phone featuring two cameras. The front facing camera is one megapixel and meant for video conferencing, while the one at the back is eight megapixels and features Carl Zeiss optics.

If the positive reviews indeed turn out to be true, it will be sad to see MeeGo go, but the new Nokia N9 will surely be welcomed.

It is hard to see the once-so-popular Nokia not being able to retain its market share, as the Android and iOS seem to be dominating the market all across the US. Nokia has seen a huge downfall from what it used to be and to me, that is a big disappointment.

In the last year, Nokia’s Q4 revenues dropped massively by 21% and that is just in time for the financial and strategy briefing which will be held in London on Friday. Stephen Elop, the chief executive of Nokia, intends to reveal at the meeting some new plans and strategies that Nokia has decided to implement in 2011 to rescue its position. In a brief to the media earlier, he had mentioned that the industry has changed and it is time now for Nokia too to change faster.

There are certain rumours doing the rounds that Nokia may be planning to deal with Google Android as well as even sack some of its management board. However all this is purely speculation and no reports have been confirmed as yet.

In 2008 when Nokia was the pioneer, it was holding around 40% market share. Though they still are a major contender performing extremely well in worldwide sales, they definitely have lost a part of some share in the US to iPhone and other mobiles running Android OS.

What remains to be seen is the operating system that they will now use – will it be Google’s operating system? Or will they continue with Symbian3 despite issues? Or will it be something completely new?

This survey, which studied 300,000 mobile users (all using Opera), provides good insight into how people all over the world are using their handsets.
For example, in nations where the average income is lower than that of the U.K. or U.S, Nokia phones are still doing well, especially Nokia 5130 XpressMusic, a model that includes MP3. As a matter of fact, in countries such as India, Nigeria and Indonesia, all the top ten mobile slots are taken up by Nokia handsets. Another point to be noted here is that in the same nations, the number of people using smartphones such as BlackBerry or iPhone is almost negligible.
It is also interesting to note that areas using Nokia mobiles are also using their handsets as the primary way for accessing the World Wide Web. Opera is speculating that the reason behind this fact is the lack of proper telecom infrastructure, resulting in a slow, expensive and unreliable connection. The installation of mobile phone towers is easy and cheap, which results in a less expensive mobile network that can grow faster.
What is really astounding is the fact that while U.S. and European citizens are much more comfortable while shopping online compared to the people elsewhere in the world they are actually far behind when it comes to their adaptability to the mobile web. Nevertheless, necessity leads to progress, and for these nations, there would be no web, if it was not for the mobile web.

There’s a Nokia 6500 Slide, and a Nokia 6500 Classic, just to muddy the waters a little. They’re much the same, although with the 6500 Classic there’s more of an emphasis on the camera and music. The Slide has a little more to offer, even though it’s not a high end Nokia mobile phone.

What sets it apart from most Nokia handsets is that the company has certainly done its research when it comes to the camera. It might be just an average 3.2 megapixels, but that’s topped up by Carl Zeiss optics, along with an LED photo light and autofocus to make it something far more than the ordinary.

When it comes to music, the player is set up to support virtually all of the common file formats. The sound is good, and users can add a microSD card to give up to 8GB extra memory – which amounts to quite a few tunes. The handset also boasts an FM radio, just to add musical (or talk) variety.

Surprisingly for Nokia, what really lets the 6500 Slide down is its design. It just doesn’t feel right – it is a little awkward and bulky in the pocket. That’s unusual for Nokia, which is generally very attentive to feel, size and weight.

For anyone seeking out a good camera phone that’s also more than acceptable with music, the Nokia 6500 Slide represents a good, if not perfect, choice. The company makes better models but it is solid, not likely to break if dropped, and the price is right.

Nokia is a company that remembers that mobiles phones are meant to be exactly that – phones, for calling and texting. The Nokia 3600 Slide is a slider phone that doesn’t pretend to be more than it is. There’s no fancy touchscreen, no apps, not even a QWERTY keyboard. It knows exactly what it is, and that’s no bad thing.

It’s well designed and styled, fitting neatly into both hand and pocket, and sliding open and closed smoothly and easily.

The keypad is well spaced, responsive, and very good for sending texts. Anyone who’s used a Nokia will be familiar with the onscreen navigation system, and those who aren’t will grasp it very quickly – it’s extremely intuitive.

Like all the latest mobile phones, the Nokia 3600 Slider comes equipped with a media player and a camera. The former is good, if not the very best, with support for most media formats, and also an FM radio and Bluetooth. The latter, however, is merely adequate. Although the camera has autofocus and an LED flash to support the 3.2 megapixel camera, the photographs are far from outstanding.

It’s not a phone that’s intended for extensive web browsing, as there’s no 3G or Wi-Fi. But those buying this handset are unlikely to be doing a great deal of that, anyway.

Anyone looking to upgrade a phone without buying a handset that offers more features than they’re ever likely to use would be very satisfied with the Nokia 3600 Slider. It looks good, and does exactly what it’s made to do – and does it very well indeed. No frills, no fuss, just good, solid performance.

Nokia has put all its experience together for the Nokia N97 smartphone, and it certainly pays off. Not only does it looks good, it works like a charm, with the type of camera other companies can only envy, even though it’s just five megapixels with an auto-focus lens.

The company seems to have done most things right with this model. There’s a 3.5mm headphone jack for listening to music, and with a 32GB memory there’s room for plenty of tunes, as well as the ability to add another 16GB with a microSD card. Since the battery life is strong, users can play music for a long time without hitting empty.

That’s all great, but it’s only part of what the Nokia N97 offers. Among new mobile phones it’s outstanding for the resolution of its home screen, which allows a user to have some items continually updated. Everything works fast, thanks to a superb processor, while built-in GPS is an advantage for anyone who’s on the move, thanks to Nokia Maps.

The Nokia N97 uses a pull-out QWERTY keyboard, although it’s not the easiest for typing, due to its width. The browser that comes with phone is one Nokia’s been using for far too long, and its age really shows on this handset, taking far too long to respond.

The touch screen does need plenty of pressure, although that might be resolved in the future. Hopefully that will be true of Nokia’s Ovi App Store, too, which is still far too small. Those caveats aside, the Nokia N97 is a wonderful smartphone.
